Two Virgin Martyrs

Main altarpiece, Church of St. Michael, Taufers, Italy.

The figure on the left is St. Barbara, identifiable by the chalice in her right hand and the tower behind her. The other figure is probably St. Margaret, judging from the creature at her right foot, partly hidden by the railing support. It is very common for full-length images of St. Margaret to place a dragon at her feet, and not very common for creatures to appear at the feet of other female saints.
